Introducing Categories

A new way to share and explore photography on Glass!

Announcements

Say hello to Categories

Categories are live! Head to the Apple App Store to update Glass to start adding Categories to your photos.

Earlier this week, we marked a month since our launch. When we launched, we knew we were launching with a minimal lovable product. But we didn’t realize how many of you would love it. The response is thrilling — the photography community that we’re building together is wonderful and exactly what we hoped for.

We think Categories is a great first large update to Glass.

How Categories work

As we outlined in our first Glimpse into Glass, Categories open up a new way to share your photography with the Glass community.

You’ll be able to place up to three Categories on each photograph. When uploading a new photo, you’ll see the carousel of Category options. You can edit old photos to add Categories. Just navigate to the detail view of the photo and you'll see the new edit button. (You can now also edit photo descriptions. Your move, Twitter.)

Categories are also a great way to find photographers shooting the type of photography you love. Under the Community Tab, you’ll find the new Categories section. From there, you‘ll be able to tap into a live feed for each Category on Glass. See a photograph you love? Swipe into the detail view to discover the photographer, comment, and follow them.

24 to start

After working through member feedback on Twitter and our Feedback board, we think our Category list is a great start.

  • Abstract
  • Aerial
  • Animal
  • Architecture
  • Black & White
  • Commercial
  • Documentary
  • Event
  • Family
  • Fashion

  • Long Exposure
  • Macro
  • Nature
  • Portrait

We know that some favorites didn’t make the initial list, but don’t worry! We’ll be introducing more Categories over time.

That’s it. That’s the post. Go share some great photographs and explore the new Categories.
